World's Biggest Bookstore by citypainter
World's Biggest Bookstore

August 2014 | Ink with Digital Colour | 8" x 6"

This is an illustration of the entrance to World's Biggest Bookstore on Edward St. in Toronto. Although never technically the world's biggest, the store was well-known to Torontonians for its sprawling aisles of windowless, florescent-lit book shelves.  The store operated from 1980 until it closed earlier this year.

I live in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Here I post images of paintings I’ve completed over the past several years, most based on photos I’ve taken around my St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood and surrounding areas.

I usually work with acrylics on canvas, or with pencil and ink drawings that I colour digitally on a pen tablet. I work from photos I take during my wanderings around Toronto, or in some cases, Google Street View images of areas I know.

I'm a web developer by profession, not a painter, but I'm trying to paint as much as possible and improve a little bit each time. Feedback is welcome.

My painting blog is at citypainter.ca
