Toronto Cranes by citypainter
Toronto Cranes

December 2014 | Acrylic and Ink on Paper | 10" x 7.5"

This is a painting of two construction cranes working on the Globe and Mail Centre office tower on the northwest corner of Front St East and Berkeley St in Toronto.

Our former mayor Rob Ford was fond of claiming that Toronto has "more cranes in the sky than any major city in North America" and while the details of that statistic are debatable it certainly feels that way downtown.

I live in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Here I post images of paintings I’ve completed over the past several years, most based on photos I’ve taken around my St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood and surrounding areas.

I usually work with acrylics on canvas, or with pencil and ink drawings that I colour digitally on a pen tablet. I work from photos I take during my wanderings around Toronto, or in some cases, Google Street View images of areas I know.

I'm a web developer by profession, not a painter, but I'm trying to paint as much as possible and improve a little bit each time. Feedback is welcome.
